Traveler tightrope: OR leaders balance best practices, reduction strategies
As early as last year, travelling OR nurses accounted for half of the staff managed by Kristy Hemingway, MS, BSN, RN, NE-BC, administrative director of nursing for surgical services at Orlando Regional Medical Center. As of June, the number stands at 13%, she says, noting that the percentage was even lower before the hospital expanded from 26 to 32 total ORs.
