The Joint Commission adds new HCSS performance measures

The Joint Commission announced on January 26 that it will add four new performance measures to four recently revised Health Care Staffing Services (HCSS) measures.

The new measures will be used to report staff turnover rates and track reasons for staff turnover.

The new performance measures apply to certified healthcare staffing firms and those seeking certification.

Data collection for the following new measures and their Firm Groups will need to be added:

• HCSS-8: Voluntary Turnover—Per Diem
• HCSS-9: Voluntary Turnover—Travel
• HCSS-10: Reason for Voluntary Turnover—Per Diem
• HCSS-11: Reason for Voluntary Turnover—Travel

Data are reported quarterly via the Certification Measure Information Process and should be submitted not later than 45 days after the end of a calendar quarter.

The new measures are effective July 1, 2022.
