Editor's Note

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), on March 7, announced a short-term increase in highly focused inspections directed at hospitals and skilled nursing care facilities that care for COVID-19 patients.

OSHA’s goal is to ensure continued mitigation efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 and future variants as well as to protect healthcare workers at heightened risk of contracting the virus.

This initiative supplements OSHA’s targeted enforcement under the Revised COVID-19 National Emphasis Program by conducting follow-up and monitoring inspections of previously inspected or investigated facilities where COVID-19 citations or Hazard Alert Letters were issued, including remote inspections.

The inspections will take place from March 9 to June 9, 2022.
