OR Manager Conference Day 2: Learning, limelight, and the LINQ

Day 2 of the 2016 OR Manager Conference starts at 6:30 am PT with a breakfast presentation by Ecolab on the impact an OR environmental hygiene program can have on operating room culture and cleanliness. The presentation, led by Maria Kramer, BSN, RN, and Susan Kriznik, RN, CIC, from Allegheny Health Network, will be open to Value Package and Conference Only attendees.

Keynotes today include:

  • Rose O. Sherman, EdD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, from the Nursing Leadership Institute at Florida Atlantic University. She will address how perioperative leaders must adapt leadership style to the changing healthcare landscape. Sponsored by Halyard Health.
  • Elizabeth Norman, PhD, RN, from New York University. She will share the inspirational and touching history behind nurse leadership in times of war. Dr Norman will sign copies of her book, We Band of Angels and Women at War: The Story of Fifty Military Nurses Who Served in Vietnam 1965-1973, in the conference bookstore immediately following her presentation.

 

The Exhibit Hall, open from 9:15 am–4:30 pm, will feature:

  • Poster sessions (1:00–2:00 pm and 3:30–4:30 pm) in the Forum level
  • Continuing education programs in exhibitors’ booths
  • Hybrid OR town hall sessions
  • Product demonstrations within the interactive hybrid OR in the Octavius level
  • Fruit-infused water stations, sponsored by ASP, and massage therapists in the Wellness Lounge in the Forum level

Breakout sessions will take place from 10:45 am–12:00 pm and 2:00–3:15 pm, including clinical, ambulatory surgery center, business, process improvement, new manager, and leadership topics. View the full schedule of sessions online.

 

OR Manager has expanded the annual awards program to recognize leaders in perioperative services with the Emerging Leader award, Ambulatory Services Achievement award, Best in OR Business* award, and the annual OR Manager of the Year award. The awards will be presented during the OR Manager Awards Luncheon today at 12:00 pm, followed immediately by a dessert reception in the Exhibit Hall.

 

Day 2 will conclude with an offsite networking event, OR Manager’s Night Out: the LINQ Rooftop Soirée. Attendees will enjoy refreshments, the sounds of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack from a live band, red carpet photos, and views of the Las Vegas strip. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the conference registration desk in Caesars Palace.

*The Best in OR Business award will be presented at the OR Business Management Conference, January 30–February 2, 2017, in New Orleans.
