‘Grumpy staying’ added to ‘quiet quitting,’ ‘loud quitting’

Grumpy staying refers to the behavior of workers who choose to remain in their jobs while exhibiting irritable and discontented attitudes, Teambuilding.com reports.

Causes of grumpy staying include:

  • Toxic work environment
  • Lack of work-life balance
  • Poor management and leadership
  • Limited opportunities for growth and development
  • Personal circumstances
  • Cultural or organizational mismatch
  • Uncertain job market.

When managers suspect employees are grumpy staying, it is important to approach the situation with empathy and understanding, the report says. “Offering opportunities for growth, addressing work-related issues, and promoting a positive work environment can help alleviate their grumpy mindset and improve overall job satisfaction.”
