Marie Graziela “Graze” Bautista is the President of the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification (ABPANC), where she leads national efforts to recognize and advance excellence in perianesthesia nursing practice. A Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN®) and Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA®), she has devoted her career to elevating patient care, supporting nurse development, and championing certification as a pathway to professional growth and improved outcomes.
Currently serving as a Clinical Nurse III at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, Graze brings more than two decades of perioperative and perianesthesia nursing experience, including leadership roles at Johns Hopkins Hospital and international practice in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Towson University, where she mentors the next generation of nurses in clinical and academic settings.
Her leadership has extended beyond the bedside into quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and the development of nurse education programs that have improved workflow efficiency, increased staff satisfaction, and promoted certification among colleagues. She has presented nationally and internationally on the value of specialty certification and has published in journals such as the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development.
Among her many honors, Graze received the 2023 Nurse Leadership Award from Mercy Medical Center. She has also been recognized by ABPANC as Item Writer of the Year and by Johns Hopkins Hospital with multiple awards for excellence in leadership and clinical practice.
Passionate about advancing the specialty and strengthening the perianesthesia nursing community, Graze continues to advocate for certification as a powerful tool for both professional advancement and better patient outcomes.
Glenn Padrid is an accomplished nursing leader with extensive expertise in perioperative and perianesthesia services. He currently serves as Director of Nursing for Anesthesia, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine for Kaiser Permanente San Diego, overseeing operations for 46 OR suites 5 Labor and Delivery suites and a wide range of specialty surgical services. Under his leadership, the department has achieved significant improvements in surgical efficiency, patient throughput, and care quality — including reducing joint turnover times and enhancing specialty coordinator coverage.
Glenn also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification (ABPANC), contributing to the advancement of perianesthesia nursing standards and certification. With a strong background in operational leadership, process improvement, and patient safety, Glenn has been recognized for driving strategic initiatives that support both clinical excellence and staff development. His career reflects a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Glenn holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Nursing Leadership and Administration and an MBA in Healthcare Management. He is a Certified Post-Anesthesia Nurse and an active member of both Sigma and the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
Dr. Stephanie Woods returns to Texas Woman’s after serving six years as dean and professor of the Hunt School of Nursing at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso. She previously served as associate dean for nine years at the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell School of Nursing at Texas Woman’s Dallas campus.
She currently is a co-investigator for a five-year Hispanic Serving Institute grant focused on pathways into nursing and studying the at-risk nursing student.
Woods earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s, a master’s degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio and a doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
She has served on the boards of Parkland Health and Hospital System and Texas Health Resources Presbyterian, as well as the DFW Hospital Council Foundation board while in Dallas. In El Paso, she served on the boards of United Way and Executive Forum, a professional organization of women leaders.
Woods is active in the Association of Nurse Leaders (AONL), Texas Nurses Association (TNA), and American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN). She also has served on the national board of directors for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and recently ended service as treasurer for the AAHN.
Collin is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and currently serving as Chief of Anesthesia for Physician Partners of America. He received his Master’s in Nursing and Anesthesia from Rush University in Chicago, IL, and has been practicing since 2000.
During his career, Collin has provided anesthesia services for a wide range of surgical cases including open-heart, specialized thoracic, general surgery, orthopedic, and in-office sedation. Collin’s approach and appreciation of comfort for overall patient experience is notable in practice.
As Chief of Anesthesia, Collin actively partners with other departments to collaboratively increase patient safety, reduce errors in scheduling, and to streamline operational workflows. Adhering to reimbursement guidelines, Collin is a financial advocate for this nationwide ASC organization.
Ben has been with Stryker for 17 years, serving the past 4 years on their Planning, Design, and Construction team. He received his BA in Architecture from Yale University in 2000, is a proud father of 5, and resides in Grand Rapids, MI.
Dawn Whiteside, DNP, MSN-Ed, RN, CNOR, NPD-BC, RNFA is the Director of Education and Professional Development of the Competency & Credentialing Institute. Dr. Whiteside has over 35 years of experience as a perioperative nurse in many roles including circulator, scrub, first assistant, team leader, charge nurse, manager, and educator. She has been working in professional development with CCI for over 11 years. Dr. Whiteside has authored numerous articles and has presented at various conferences over her career. She participated with a research team to help validate the Ulrich Precepting Model as a standardized evidence-based approach to preceptor training. She serves on the ABSNC Board of Directors as well as the editorial board for MD Publishing. As an educator, Dr. Whiteside is passionate about developing educational materials for all members of the perioperative team.
President of MFW Consultants & a successful nurse entrepreneur, Phyllis is a healthcare consultant and has practiced as a Legal Nurse Consultant specializing in defense since 2004. During her nursing career, Phyllis has held positions in clinical, education & administrative positions in a variety of practice venues.
She is a Certified Professional Coach by the International Coaching Federation and is a Fellow of the Institute of Coaching. Phyllis uses the tools of emotional intelligence, applied positive psychology, and character strength building when working with her clients.
She was invited to be the career coach for the American Nurses Association-New York State Chapter in 2021 and has lectured extensively across the USA & Canada on subjects including but not limited to resilience, professionalism, leadership development, and creating and sustaining healthy work environments.
She has published several articles, is active on social media and is often featured on professional webinars.
