On March 15, The Joint Commission released a statement expressing support for Ukraine, saying the enterprise “is devastated by the horror” of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to the statement, the World Health Organization “has identified at least 31 attacks on Ukrainian healthcare organizations” as of March 13, meaning the health of millions of people in Ukraine may be compromised.

“Attacks on healthcare are a violation of International Humanitarian Law, and The Joint Commission opposes these appalling actions,” the statement reads.

The Joint Commission also listed the following organizations as currently offering support in Ukraine for anyone who wishes to donate (note that the below options have not been formally vetted by The Joint Commission, as noted in the statement):

  • U.S. Ukraine Foundation
  • United Help Ukraine
  • Red Cross’s Ukrainian branch
  • Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres)
