The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has announced that the National Prescription Drug 'Take Back Day' is this Saturday, October 28. The day allows the public to dispose safely of prescription drugs.
On that day, the public is invited to dispose of unneeded medications at almost 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide, anonymously and for free. Through the Take Back Day, the DEA has collected 8,650 tons of old, unwanted, or expired medications over more than 10 years.
Collection sites will be open from 10 am to 2 pm local time and available locations can be found on the DEA Take Back Day website: https://www.dea.gov/takebackday.
The national Take Back Day is supported with posters and other materials throughout hospitals and other healthcare facilities and helps to keep opioids and other drugs susceptible to misuse out of public circulation
