Important ASC Medicare quality reporting deadlines approaching

By: Judy Mathias

Editor’s Note

All eligible Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) that want to avoid future penalties must complete a new electronic form by April 14 via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network website in order to report on ASC-8: Influenza Vaccination Coverage among Healthcare Personnel, the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association reported on April 2.

The submission deadline for all ASC Quality Reporting Program web-based measures is May 15. This is the first year the web-based measure reporting dates are aligned. ASC-9: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance (Appropriate follow-up interval for normal colonoscopy in average risk patients) and ASC-10: Endoscopy/Polyp Surveillance (Colonoscopy interval for patients with a history of adenomatous polyps−avoidance of inappropriate use) are both reported via QualityNet.
