Healthcare industry leaders set stage for successful business management in 2020

Leading healthcare industry clinicians and experts will help OR business managers anticipate changes in patient care delivery and plan for volume growth during the 2020 OR Business Management Conference.

On January 28, David Wildebrandt, MHA, will provide a primer on business growth in his keynote address, “No Margin, No Mission: Maximizing Your Profit Margins with a Focused Approach.” Wildebrandt, managing director of BRG—Berkeley Research Group, LLC, will discuss ways to identify new service line opportunities and ensure successful implementation.

The spike in outpatient procedures has turned traditional surgical patient care on its head, and important insights will be divulged during two keynote luncheons:

  • January 28: “A 20/20 Vision of the Business Manager’s Role,” presented by Jeffry Peters, MBA, CEO of Surgical Directions
  • January 29: “Ingredients for Success in Outpatient Total Joint and Spine Procedures,” presented by Terry Avitable, MSN, RN, CNOR, and Judith Pins, MBA, BSN, RN, both with Pfiedler Education.

Breakfast keynotes will address ways to improve communication and leverage technology.

  • January 29: Renee Hildebrand, MSN, CNOR, RNFA, and Nikhil Singal, MHA, will present “Reaching New Partnership Heights with Clinician/Business Manager Collaboration.” Hildebrand is director of perioperative services at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, and Singal is director of operations at Sutter Center for Psychiatry.
  • January 30: Melissa Pressley, BS, management engineer at Duke University Health System, will present “Increasing OR Access, Accountability, and Transparency at Duke University Health Care System” with Ashley Walsh, MHA, director of client services for LeanTaaS.
