ACS: Emergency General Surgery Verification Program verifies five hospitals

The American College of Surgeons (ACS), on July 10, announced the first five hospitals verified under its Emergency General Surgery Verification Program (ACS EGS-VP).

EGS-VP is a surgical quality program created by ACS and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma to help hospitals align resources and clinical standards specific to general surgery procedures that need to be performed on an emergent basis.

The hospitals are:

• Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia
• University of Kansas Health System, Kansas City
• University of Wisconsin UW Health—University Hospital, Madison
• Riverside University Health System Medical Center, Moreno Valley, California
• JPS Health Network, Fort Worth, Texas.
