The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) on May 9, issued a new draft recommendation on screening for breast cancer, recommending that all women get screened for breast cancer every other year starting at age 40.
In a statement, the American College of Radiology (ACR) and Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) urge the USPSTF to go further and recommend annual mammograms for all average-risk women aged 40 and older.
The ACR and SBI also recommend that all women have a risk assessment by age 25, and that women continue screening past age 74, unless severe comorbidities limit life expectancy.
