A survey of 500 US healthcare industry leaders conducted by Optum finds that executives are ramping up their implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) efforts, with 62% saying they have adopted AI strategies in their organizations, the March 11 HealthIT Analytics reports. This is a nearly 88% increase from 2018, when 33% said they had adopted AI strategies.
Leaders expect their organizations will invest some $39.7 million in AI projects during the next 5 years, which is $7.3 million more than estimated in 2018. In addition, 50% of respondents expect to see a tangible cost saving in 3 years as a result of AI, compared with 31% in 2018.
