NorthStar Anesthesia scales ASC partnerships in Georgia with transparent, clinician-driven model

Editor's Note

NorthStar Anesthesia is expanding its reach across Georgia’s ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), reinforcing its strategy of pairing local clinical autonomy with scalable anesthesia services, an October 1 PR Newswire press release reports. NorthStar reportedly supports more than 60 ASCs statewide through a model focused on transparency, long-term relationships, and tailored staffing that balances Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) independence with anesthesiologist engagement as needed.

With 4 decades of experience through its Sentry team, NorthStar delivers anesthesia services ranging from routine day surgeries to advanced orthopedic and cancer procedures. Nearly 50 anesthesiologists and more than 200 CRNAs cover these sites. The past 4 months alone saw the addition of five new ASC partners, including OrthoAtlanta in Austell and Apex Spine and Neurosurgery Center in Suwanee. Each partnership is built on a cost-transparent agreement and a data-driven revenue cycle approach that supports financial sustainability.

Chris McWilliams, president of clinical operations, attributed the company’s Georgia success to “intentional growth and a deep commitment to local leadership and care team autonomy.” The model not only empowers CRNAs but also aligns anesthesia services with ASC financial and clinical objectives.

Recruiting is central to NorthStar’s strategy. The company maintains ties with more than 65 CRNA programs nationally, including those at Augusta University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and Emory University. Each year, five to ten new CRNA graduates join the Sentry team, ensuring a reliable talent pipeline for ASC partners.

As demand for outpatient care accelerates, NorthStar executives say their Georgia expansion serves as a blueprint for national growth. Cindy Myers, vice president of the ASC division, said Georgia “is proof of what’s possible when you combine transparency, recruiting strength, and clinical independence,” signaling further nationwide deployment of the model.
