Healthcare employment in the US rose by 39,000 from June to July, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, released July 3. According to a July 3 BLS press release, the figure is similar to the average monthly gain of 43,000 over the past 12 month. Overall monthly employment gain was 147,000 in June.
In June, healthcare employment also trended up in hospital employment, which rose by 16,000, ambulatory healthcare services, which added 8,700, and nursing and residential care facilities, which rose by 14,000.
At 4.1%, the overall unemployment rate changed little, as did the number of unemployed people at 7 million. The unemployment rate has remained in a narrow range of 4.0 percent to 4.2 percent since May 2024.
