Healthcare employment in the US rose by 55,000 from July to August, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), released on August 1.
Higher than the average over the prior 12 months of 42,000, the rise in healthcare employment compares to an overall monthly gain of 73,000 in July. Healthcare employment also rose by 34,00 in ambulatory healthcare services and 16,000 in hospitals.
At 4.2%, the overall unemployment rate changed little in July, according to a BLS news release. The case is the same for the total number of unemployed people, reported as 7.2 million for July.
