Editor's Note
The Joint Commission on February 21 announced that it has created specific versions of 19 elements of performance (EPs) for deemed ambulatory surgical centers and specific versions for federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics to improve access in the E-dition. The EPs were added for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Emergency Management (EM) final rule.
Some ambulatory care customers were having trouble accessing the EPs that contain the lead-in: “for ambulatory surgical centers that elect to use the Joint Commission deemed status option and for rural health clinics and federally qualified health centers.”
Only the lead-in has been revised; the actual requirement is unchanged. The changes become effective March 11.
