Editor's Note
The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), on May 18, released a new perioperative medication safety self assessment to help hospitals, ASCs, and other surgery settings evaluate their medication practices and identify challenges and opportunities for improvement.
The tool also offers providers a way to document compliance with risk assessment and performance improvement requirements from state and federal regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Organizations that submit their assessment findings to ISMP anonymously will be able to compare their experiences with experiences of similar facilities nationwide. The data submission deadline is August 31, 2021.
The self assessment is being conducted under a contract from the Food and Drug Administration.
