Iowa newspaper The Messenger, along with hospital employees and donors, last week got a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing construction of a new surgery center just west of the main entrance of UnityPoint Health Trinity Regional Medical Center in the town of Fort Dodge.
The $39.8 million project, which began in June and is expected to be completed in March 2027, will consolidate the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient surgery services in one holistic area.
The surgery center features both new construction and a remodeling of a portion of the existing medical center. Ultimately, the new build portion of the center will have a lower-level sterile processing department and 24 upper-level pre- and post-op rooms, with the center’s five ORs, two endoscopy suites and PACU in the remodeled portion of the existing building, according to the paper.
