HHS requests health care input on AI

Editor's Note

HHS is seeking public input on how the federal agency can accelerate adoption and use of AI as part of clinical care in the United States, according to a Request for Information (RFI) released on December 19.

Through this RFI, stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on how the Department can use its regulatory, reimbursement, and research and development levers to enable AI adoption within American health care system.

Specific requests from the public on how HHS can accelerate AI adoption noted in the RFI cover:
*How digital health and software regulatory frameworks should evolve to account for AI-driven tools while maintaining patient safety.
*How reimbursement structures can be simplified and better aligned to support the use of efficient, deflationary technologies.
*How research and development investments can strengthen implementation science and best practices, especially for complex or high-acuity clinical scenarios.
