Last week, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will award all 50 U.S. states funding under its Rural Health Transformation (RHT) program “to strengthen and modernize health care in rural communities across the country.” The initiative is intended to provide what the government estimates is more than 60 million Americans living in rural areas “equal access to quality care.”
The $50 billion in RHT funds will be allocated to “approved states” over five years, with $10 billion available each year from 2026 through 2030.
