Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said on February 3 that new COVID-19 cases in the US had fallen to pre-Thanksgiving levels, and the infection rates were continuing to decline, the February 3 The Hill reports.
COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions appear to be in a consistent downward trajectory, she said.
The decreasing number of infections has led states to start rolling back restrictions that have been in place since before the December holidays.
Despite these findings, however, Walensky, warned against people gathering indoors in large groups for Super Bowl parties.
