Florida Coast Medical Center (FCMC) last week told South Florida Hospital News and Healthcare Report that it plans to expand its adjacent Medical Office Building (MOB) in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to include a new ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
The MOB, which opened alongside FCMC in September, is being positioned as “a hub for advanced outpatient care.” Already present inside its walls are Independence ENT, Stuart Cardiology, and the Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute, working alongside the Palm Beach Health Network Physician Group. The mission is to expand access to high-quality healthcare by providing coordinated services in one convenient location that doesn’t require community members to travel far.
The new ambulatory surgery center now planned for the MOB’s second floor is expected to open in 2027.
The $200 million, 180,000-square-foot FCMC, the sixth standalone hospital in the Palm Beach Health Network, features 54 private patient rooms, 24-hour emergency care, and specialized services including neurosciences, orthopedics, spine care, robotics, general surgery, urology, and advanced cardiac care. Through the MOB and its upcoming ASC, FCMC patients will soon gain access to outpatient surgical services along with imaging and physician access.
