The American College of Surgeons (ACS) on July 9 announced a new breast cancer skills program for breast cancer patients.
Patients have access to evidence-based knowledge, checklists, and skills training to support them from preoperative preparation through postoperative recovery.
Given in advance of surgery, the ACS Surgical Skills Patient Education Program, affords patients the opportunity of repetitive practice and the confidence to actively participate in their pre-and postoperative care.
There is a lot of breast cancer information on radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and other new therapies, but until now, there has been nothing to guide a patient through the entire experience of surgery, ACS says.
