Traits millennials want in a leader

A survey of 350 millennials finds that traits employees want in a leader has changed dramatically in the past 20 years, the August 2 Great Leadership reports.

Among the traits millennials are looking for in a leader are those who:

  • communicate openly and frequently
  • inspire people to be their best
  • show they trust people
  • admitt mistakes
  • show they care for and will develop their team
  • make the right decision, not the popular one.

Great leaders understand that in this new world of work they have to eliminate the barriers that separate them from their people. By doing this they’ll earn the loyalty of the millennials and every generation they have the privilege to lead, the authors note.
