Study shows positive results for new AAA graft in women

Thirty-day data from the 225-patient LUCY (Evaluation of FemaLes who are Underrepresented Candidates for Abdominal Aortic AneurYsm Repair) Study showed that at least 28% more women became eligible for  minimally invasive endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair when using Endologix’s (Irvine, California) Ovation abdominal stent graft system, according to the June 1 Mass Device.

The stent was able to accommodate particular challenges of the female anatomy, such as small access vessel diameter, short aortic neck length, and higher aortic neck angulation.

The adverse event rate with the graft was 1.3%, with a 3.9% readmission rate and no deaths, limb occlusion, or proximal endoleaks.

 

Endologix (NSDQ:ELGX) touted 30-day data today from a trial evaluating its Ovation abdominal stent graft system in women. The Lucy trial showed that at least 28% more women became eligible for minimally-invasive endovascular aneurysm repair when using the Ovation stent graft.
