New brochure focuses on HAI prevention

The Joint Commission on January 31 announced that a new brochure is available to help healthcare organizations inform patients about healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and prevention.
The brochure, titled, “For Our Patients and Their Visitors: Help Prevent Infections,” is derived from the resource, “Compendium of Strategies to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections in Acute Care Hospitals.”
The brochure outlines:
- ways to prevent HAIs
- common HAI symptoms
- types of HAIs.
The Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) jointly published the compendium, which represents recommendations by SHEA, IDSA, the American Hospital Association, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, the Joint Commission, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
