National Advocacy Day leads to new cosponsors for ASC legislation

The Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality and Access Act of 2017 (HR 1838/S 1001) has added new cosponsors in the US House of Representatives and was introduced in the Senate, the May 23 Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) News Digest reports.

Many of the cosponsors signed on as a direct result of ASCA member participation in National Advocacy Day, which was held in conjunction with the ASCA’s annual meeting at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, May 3-6, Washington, DC.

The legislation, which now has 39 cosponsors in the House and 6 in the Senate, would change Medicare’s inflationary update factor that contributes to the disparity between ASC and hospital outpatient department payments.
