Mayo Clinic tops US News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list

US News & World Report on August 2 released it 27th Annual Best Hospitals list, which compares nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures, or conditions.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is Number 1 this year, followed by the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Best Hospital methodologies include measures such as mortality, patient safety, and hospital reputation.
Hospitals rankings included four new surgical procedures this year: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery, and lung cancer surgery.
In specialty rankings, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, is Number 1 in cancer treatment; the Cleveland Clinic is Number 1 in cardiology and heart surgery; and the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City, is Number 1 in orthopedics.
US News Best Hospitals lists the top hospitals in the country in various medical specialties, such as cancer and orthopedics, as well as procedures and conditions, including hip and knee replacement. Find ranked hospitals by state, region, and metro area.
