Healthcare employment up in May

Healthcare employment in the US rose by 68,000 from May to June, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, released on June 7. That is compared to an overall monthly gain of 272,000 in May.
In May, healthcare employment also trended up in:
- ambulatory healthcare services rose by 43,000
- hospital employment rose by 15,000
- nursing and residential care facilities rose by 11,000
Both the unemployment rate, at 4.0 percent, and the number of unemployed people, at 6.6 million, changed little in May, according to a June 7 Bureau of Labor Statistics news release.
