OR Manager, Inc, is making an important transition in its successful history with its acquisition by Access Intelligence, LLC, and its Dorland Health Division as of January 7, 2011. For 26 years, OR Manager has provided information on management of the surgical suite through its monthly publication, conferences, webinars, and other publications. OR Manager, Inc, was founded in 1985 by Elinor S. Schrader, publisher, and Pat Patterson, editor. Under the editorial direction of Patterson, the OR Manager publication has provided relevant news and information for OR nurse directors and decision makers concerned with management of the surgical suite. Patterson is recognized for her skill in identifying current issues and providing clear, readable information that can be used to promote quality health care in the OR. The annual conference, Managing Today’s OR Suite, now in its 24th year, is the premier educational and networking meeting for perioperative leaders. This year, the conference will incorporate the OR Business Management conference, which is of special interest to OR business managers. Assuring continuity of the resources that OR Manager provides for nurse managers, Schrader and Patterson will be working with the Dorland Health personnel, including senior vice president Diane Schwartz, associate publisher Carol Brault, and trade show director Jenn Heinold. Judy Dahle, RN, MS, OR Manager educational coordinator, will be planning the program for the 2011 Managing Today’s OR Suite conference September 28-30 in Chicago.
