Ever-changing healthcare delivery and payment models present constant challenges. Expert advice on shifting from a volume- to a value-based system will be offered during the opening keynote session on Wednesday, January 31, at the 2018 OR Business Management Conference in San Antonio.

David Wildebrandt, MHA, managing director at Berkeley Research Group, LLC, will discuss the impact of changes to the Affordable Care Act, implementation of MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015), and other new developments in reimbursement.

Human resources are another big challenge for all OR leaders. Three other conference keynotes will discuss how changes in workflow, culture, and communication can improve relationships among staff:

  • Wednesday, January 31, keynote luncheon: “Turn Your Workplace into a WOWplace,” by Sandra Geroux, MS, will include tips for becoming a better leader.
  • Thursday, February 1, morning keynote: Alexandre Warman, MBA, and Danell Wolfe, MBA, will describe changes they implemented across several different sites within the Lehigh Valley Health Network to improve processes and relationships.
  • Thursday, February 1, keynote luncheon: J. Michael Jones, FACHE, CIC, director of professional services for surgical workflows at Getinge, will discuss how to improve the relationship between the OR and central sterile processing.

All of these speakers will bring the energy and inspiration needed to meet the management challenges facing today’s OR business leaders.
