AAAHC releases new Opioid Stewardship Toolkit

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) on May 8 announced the release of its new Opioid Stewardship Toolkit to help providers review and assess the volume and length of opioid prescriptions and dosages to mitigate risk of patient overdose and death.

AAAHC created the toolkit to address specific concerns of primary and surgical care providers and advise on opioid prescription best practices and guidelines.

The toolkit includes:

  • Prescriber resources for calculating safe opioid dosage
  • An assessment tool for measuring patient pain and function
  • A surgical care checklist for acute post-surgical/procedural pain
  • Tips for discussing pain management with patients.

The toolkit can be purchased for $10.
