The premier source for information on management of surgical suite for over 25 years, OR Manager provides monthly publications and online subscription service, an annual conference, webinars, and other publications for perioperative OR directors and others concerned with the management of the OR.

Periodicals

The OR Manager publication, launched in 1985, provides critical information, analysis, and best practices for management of the surgical suite, including patient safety, OR efficiency, sterilization and infection control, standards and regulations, and much more. 

OR Manager, Inc, also publishes OR Reports, an electronic publication comprising abstracts of scientific literature relating to the OR environment. It is available online as part of the OR Manager Super Subscription. Super Subscribers also receive weekly email bulletins with the latest news and information affecting the OR, as well as access to archives and back issues on ormanager.com

Conference

OR Manager, Inc, offers an annual conference, Managing Today’s OR Suite, held in the fall. It attracts some 800 OR directors and others involved in the management of the OR. This conference now incorporates the OR Business Management Conference for OR personnel involved in the financial management of the OR. The AORN Leadership Specialty Assembly also participates in this conference.

Webinars

Twice-monthly webinars bring up-to-date information to OR managers on topics involving the management of the OR suite in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. Webinars are of key interest to perioperative nurses, OR directors, and other decision-makers in the surgical suite. These educational opportunities feature access to required CE credits. The Management Development Program provides a series of webinars for new or aspiring managers to learn the fundamentals of OR management.

OR Benchmarking

OR Benchmarks offers Surgeon Satisfaction Surveys to measure how physicians rate their OR. The OR Benchmarks Collaborative, a partnership with McKesson, provides internal and external benchmarking of key indicators of OR efficiency.

Books and Reports

OR Manager also publishes books directly related to management of the OR. OR Manager books and reports cover timely topics of interest perioperative nurses, OR directors, and decision-makers in the surgical suite. Publications include reports and other resource material targeting specific topics of interest to OR directors. These resources cover timely topics to assist in improving the management of the OR.

Before founding OR Manager, Inc, with Pat Patterson in 1985, Ellie was editor of the AORN Journal for eleven years. She is a graduate of Cornell University.

A perioperative nurse for 41 years, Judy was a director of surgical services for 15 years.  She has an associate of arts, registered nurse, from Pasadena City College; a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Southern California; a master of science in health care administration from the University of La Verne, and a master of science in gerontology  from the University of La Verne.
